Consumption
i am not taken in by my t.v.
i am not taken in by the commentary
the type that aims to patronise me
and i am not taken in by the music
sung by those with a social stammer
i am not keen on the image,
because there is no depth in glamour
you can take all this away from me
it’s not like i am any better
but i am not taken in by this rubbish
the things the dustmen never collect
i don’t like advertising,
it never gains my respect,
if you want the pennies in my pocket
you can forget it
i am not taken in by my t.v.
the media images,
that attempt to pin me to the floor
that aim to lull me into submission
i will not be some kind of media whore
i am not taken in by my t.v.
i would rather be a consumer bore
