Into The Pale Afternoon
i will choose the waltz
if this ship is to sink
i have spent a lot of my years
and now i am really starting to think
somehow,
this point in time feels inevitable
although it is hard,
to understand how we got here
i know if this ship is to sink
someone will play the violin
and someone else will watch from afar
as we sip on port and gin
after all,
this farce is now played out
by the blind like players
and now, as the cries go up
the world is rushing over the top
it is a time of armchair majors
so i will choose the waltz
it will be just me and you
and we will dance beneath moonlight
even if it turns out to be the devil’s moon
it must be better that we dance together
and dance into the pale afternoon
before destiny is met at the arrival of sunset
