Long Way Round – Written Thursday 23rd March 2023 (Aged 48)

Long Way Round

did we all go the long way round
maybe,
find the path of least resistance
which is better?
that is hard to say –
there was so much experience along the way
did i go the long way round
and if so –
to where or what?
our lives –
they only have one natural stop
did i go the long way round
is life,
just a stash and stack of upside downs?

  1. I love this idea of questioning whether the path with the least resistance or the path of “the long way round” is best. This idea of struggle vs. privilege when seen in the long run and also compared to character building is truly an interesting conversation that promises no end.

      1. haha it seems like you don’t like most of your posts. You should create a collection and call it what it is “Poems I cannot like” “a list of hated poems” “I hate my own poems” “I hate everything I write” something catchy along these lines

      2. Haha I should. I’ve got some new stuff coming up I’m really pleased with. Interestingly at the moment I am posting one old one from 2007 and one new one. I find it too hard going to go over that particularly time in 2007 and what was going on in my life. New stuff makes it easier.

    1. I think so. That’s the interesting bit isn’t it. You end up in good places wondering if you could have got there quicker with a bit more wisdom but it was what happened along the way that got you there. 🙂

      1. Yes, I’m good, thank you… hope you are, too! Actually, I am off to bed… should have done that about an hour ago and will regret it in the morning. Heh. Have a good day/morning/evening/night… wherever you are! 🙂
