Thaw
i wonder if i could start a thaw
offer the mellowness
open the door
but the thoughts quickly passed
there was no thaw to reveal
no green grass
just a continuous blank of cold hard white
i know all of the problems,
if i let you back into my life
i remember the dark
and i remember how i yearned for light
i was the flower that eagerly climbs
but there is no chance of a thaw
not without the necessary sunshine
so i thought on a sky blue
where friendship –
was sought between me and you
and none of it was actually a chore
but i remember how it was,
and i know there could never be a thaw
