Cross The Bridge – Written Wednesday 1st August 2007 (Aged 32)

Cross The Bridge

all you had to do was get to know me
see me for who i am
unfortunately that was –
one bridge that you could not cross
you talk of phone calls –
where i was rude
i remind you of the reassurance –
where i had to constantly say i love you
convince you that you were needed
but unfortunately it did not work
happiness, it was just a fingertip away
but you could swim through the hurt
too quick to fall back on old routines
too quick to be a victim
not so quick to notice people –
and actually start listening
all you had to do was get to know me
understand me for who i was
unfortunately that was –
one bridge that you could not cross
