Gloss
it’s strange how little emotion there is…
little phrases
that you would expect to hear
cliched lines that appear to be clear
but this surface,
as shiny as it is
shows there is very little underneath –
as soon as you lift the lid
people do talk of perfect families
but in reality,
they rarely are
they just tell themselves that
it avoids dealing with what lies inside
to avoid the truth and to live endless lies
we seek for perfection
but it is a mystery to me,
to me the beauty of life –
is that it is a flawed reality
it’s strange to see how the lie is constructed
and if the truth is ever sought
it will probably have already rusted
