Champagne Lightbulbs – Written Wednesday 25th October 2023 (Aged 48)

Champagne Light Bulbs

i loosely put my jacket on,
when really,
it needed to be pulled in tight
i found champagne lightbulbs
in every piece of twisted light
i carefully stepped off the train
knowing,
that it was not in the right zone
i was platform bound,
but somehow alone
and i memorised days –
that had collected unspent steam
and the holes in my universe
i tried to plug those with dreams
i loosely put my jacket on,
when really,
i should have grabbed hold of the zip
i shaved my self esteem,
just so it would have a smoother fit
and i repurposed all of my breath
so that my words were less dimly lit
