Give Me a Taste
Give me a taste,
a taste of love and affection.
Build maps
out of lego,
then let go,
swing around personal lamposts,
and then, only then, never let go.
Because
there is a Victorian bandstand,
and it plays to new‑found shows.
Give me a taste,
a taste of love and affection.
Would you make me feel wanted
in the places I do not know?
Swing around another personal lampost,
and then, never let go.
Give me a hug
and lay down on an electric throw.
Memories,
memories are sheet music;
you hear them,
but you can never read them.
Memories are a stretch of water,
one with a steady feed.
Give me a taste,
a taste of love and affection.
Build maps
out of lego,
then let go,
and ferment every ounce of your direction.
Give me a taste
of your love and of your affection.
