‘social justice warrior’
one of those phrases
that like to much language
hinges on taking back
some, ‘power’

a man dies in the street
street homeless and cold
and the response
from the young and the old
is that there are, ‘too many foreigners’
and my heart sinks
like a boat without a hold

we wear hate now
like a coat
we sink happiness
in case it floats
we fail our steady boat

then where do i find care from?
in these, strangest of times
perhaps,
it all needs to roll down the hill
perhaps, sadly,
for people, the consequences need to be real

another day, another article
asking, who is to blame
right wing populism
is the current refrain
