Some of the Medication Did not Fit

in my life
i have so often defined my happiness
by events and people
not really by myself
people, often like a drug
have lifted me, or caused a reaction
but it has often been,
a temporary fix
and some of the medication
really did not fit
i have not knuckled down
and really tackled the inside
the thing in me
the turbulence of my flights
the nature of my seas
temporary fixes
a succession of,
and they have not constructed
a foundation,
a fundamental base
i have so often defined my happiness
in ways, which were such a waste
