She Never Made it Home – Tuesday 29th March 2011

She Never Made it Home

i shed a tear
for that woman
who never made it home
thoughts of her last moments
all alone
and the text,
from the man she loved
and who loved her back,
it just said, ‘worried’
and i cried a bit more
the injustice of life
felt so raw
of course she –
never did text back
or come home
all the police could do
was find the signal of her phone
and then through grief
bring her body hom
and the taxi driver
who caused such heartache
so worthless,
a family left to face the world
mustering dignity and finding respect
i shed a tear
in a moment when i was alone
for that smiling vivacious woman
who never made it home
