On A Slide – Sunday 20th October 1996

On A Slide

she felt strange in the afternoon
she was hope on a slide
i did not know it
but we were never destined to fly
she held hands in grease
and slipped far away
fell asleep and could never eat
those foundations start to shift
and already, you are missed
she felt strange at two in the morning
i thought something was dawning
through all the yawning
but we were already on the slide
we were there
but never destined to climb high
now it is all broken
my feelings have been awoken
and the staid voice of reason
she reckons, it has really spoken
but i say she is just shying away
who knows why?
we hd a chance
but we were on the slide
