The Bell Rings – Written August 2006 (Aged 31)

The Bell Things

i have sat through
the tears and tantrums
the wants and stamping of feet
the accusations
the me, me, me
i have listened to the rudeness
the comments
about friends and family
i have had my name
dragged through the mud
i have had my very being questioned
in the name of blood
i have listened
as you discounted my love
i have watched
as you crawl on your hands and knees
through mud riddled loneliness
looking and seeking that approval
you feel has always been denied
i have listened to your conversation
and noticed you never answer questions
least of all mine
there is a bell ringing now
and it has finally called time
