Find Me Some Sleep – Written Friday 28th February 2020 (aged 45)

Find Me Some Sleep

tiring is tired
and my eyes
need olympic weightlifter strength
to remain open
sleep is never enough
and i feel my sleep
chasing more sleep
following its tired feet
when will the let up no longer be for let
when will exhaustion
be so exhausted it will just forget
this road shakes my bones
can i cobble together hope
clinging to these old fashioned cobblestones
will i find a hidden pillbox
or a red box and dial telephone
tiring is tired
and my eyes
are sinking with titanic like speed
my sleep is drowning
and pulling up weeds
we are complex by design
but find me some more sleep
and you know, i will be just fine
