Abandoned Ice Cream Van (Originally Untitled) – Written November 2010 (Aged 35)

Abandoned Ice Cream Van

thank you –
for sharing your illness with me…
it almost –
drove me, ‘mad’ too!
i thought, ah, love
but that never came true
another, ‘mixed up kid’,
stealing ice lollies
from the abandoned ice cream van
the one,
rusting quietly on the road
you offer your hands
they take your, ‘soul’
you offer comfort
they burn the words i said
they offer the kiss of life
so why do i feel so dead
i play shapes,
by the neo modernist village hall
i keep off the grass,
because i value the weight of my ball
they shoot you,
from rusty rooftops they cling to
thank you,
for sharing your illness with me…
