She Did Not Mind (Originally Untitled) – Written Friday 1st September 2000 (Aged 25)

She Did Not Mind

someone said i deserve better
could the give me any better?
throw away a beautiful chance
she did not mind,
that i cannot tell jokes
and that i cannot dance
and for the last three years –
my affection has been real
she did not mind that i was not the best
or even the most beautiful
she said she felt the same
and after a long kiss goodnight
all i could do was to believe her
but.. she drove home to her ‘other half’
if he knew, i doubt he would laugh
but i did – but it felt hollow
someone said i was special
but she said that she could not stay
she said that she needed me,
but sadly she had to go
i watched her melt away
the drizzle of this night hid my sadness
someone said i deserve better
all i want is her,
nothing else really needs to matter
