Inadequate Parental Love
inadequate parental love
they hurt and abuse us
but that does not mean
that they do not love us
and though their love
may somehow fall short
they try to love us anyway
knowing inside that it is not enough
crumbling and falling apart
inadequate parental love
i remember the kisses
and the wishes for a better day
i remember the cuddles
that were all too brief
they never shut out the rain
i remember seeing the strain
the collapse of their own emotion
a life scarred by an inside pain
just because they could not show it
it did not mean,
that they did not care
even if they did leave all too quick
inadequate parental love
