Misspent Youth
change
left in a shopping trolley
those trolleys
that are left in the high street
there,
to trundle down lonely high streets
picked up by youths
for whom society
has somehow divorced them
change
found under bridges
by canals
where they built social prisons
in the high rise 1960’s
change
found in foil remains
of seldom found happiness
of foreign change
listen to me,
as i fall to my knees
in my old jeans
chocolate coated nightmares
eating sugar coated jelly beans
there is always change
