Strip by Strip
i will not have my identity stolen
not strip by strip
i will not climb into boxes
of which i do not fit
i will not be told who i am
and i will not be guided,
by those who have never taken my hands
i will not be blamed
for things that have happened to me –
as i grew up
i will not take the blame
from those who do not reach out and touch
i will not have my identity stolen
my feelings ignored
my personality broken
i will not be dictated to –
by those who remain out of reach
by those out on the ocean
and so far from my beach
