Growing – Written Between February and June 1995 (Aged 20)

Growing

i hope my poetry
grows with me
i am afraid of black and white
i hope i really grow
with you,
always happy, for a changing world
where we live, happily
and happily grow old
i hope my tears do not last
i hope this makes sense
i hope they drown my past
drown it in all this nonsense
we are just a bunch of nomads
looking for a place of sense
i always hope for you
i hope you will always succeed
no matter what you do
do not bleed, stop the bleeding
it is not part of you

James Garratt – February to June 1995
