Eyelids – Written May 2015 (Aged 40)

something about this –
closed my eyelids
like they did –
when they stole heaven –
from beneath –
our trainer clad feet
they sell me policies
and insurance that i never need
assurances –
that we do not believe
i was clinging –
to the idea –
that something about this –
was not going –
to tie lead weights –
to my failing arms
they talk to me –
with placards –
but i am stuck on a deck
free flowing with my cards
just tell me –
what you want us to be
rigging –
it is the only way
there is almost –
something about this
and it closes my eyelids
