Fatherly Cables
i was unsecured
from my fixing point
let loose
when i should have come home
and cooked my goose
i was taken apart
in all my airfix dreams
i guessed
that question about mathematics
that she would leave the mother hen
whilst pondering over other matters
i was made insecure
like a flat-pack table
with a fake wood allure
i was made less able
by men,
who failed to lay fatherly cables
and i was only ever given money
for some old rope
but with it built myself a bride
to bridge the chasm of my hope
i was meant to love you
and mentally not left to stew
