Different Twist
the on going thoughts of,
why are we here?
is there a god of sorts
and is it only found in fear
when i was twenty
i thought i ruled my world
when i was twenty five
it just felt awfully cold
at thirty i celebrated –
a birthday of fitting in
a professional career for her
and for me, a place to begin
but oh, it was not to be
even now i look at friends
close since that first rush of blood
back in their twenties
and i wonder,
why is a life a life of plenty
i cannot stop weighing it up
others, they find a different twist
