Bombs, Explosions and Smoke – Written Friday 23rd June 2017 (Aged 42)

Bombs, Explosions and Smoke

theses times –
of bombs, explosions and smoke
when tears flow so freely
we could almost sigh
yet in amongst this constructed chaos
i never quite lose hope
how can i?
i understand governments
and their true manifesto
i understand their means
so i know where to go,
when we all need to hang onto our dreams
do not let the horror
horrify you into hate
do not grab hold of cynicism
tell it that it must wait
these times –
of bombs, explosions and smoke
where sadness walks from room to room
hang onto positives
do not let them take us away
or kill off our hope and poison these days

James Garratt – Friday 23rd June 2017
