The Hard Edge of a Shell
i do not always want to take part
i am not fixer,
or a joiner
or even a hand mixer
i feel like the hard edge of a shell
i sometimes feel,
i am just a story to be discarded
less of the kiss and more of the tell
gestures do not do it.
either i feel it, or i do not
i know it is awkward,
but that is the nature of my collecting pot
i will do my bit and i will suggest,
as my hope struggles to top the chart
but sometimes.
i do not always want to take part
