I Must Be a Burglar – Written Between Tuesday 15th February 1994 and October 1994 (Aged 18/19)

I Must Be a Burglar

selfish people with selfish lives
hate them all
they are the fools
and they know it
i laugh,
because they crave to be different
and if they really were,
they would,
i read in a newspaper –
that the children of one parent families
are responsible for all crime
people with easy lives
say, yes that is true
they want to dismiss problems,
with an easy solution
i must be a burglar too
me and my mum
made it good on our own
she the two parents in our home
these people are blind and selfish
we all think of number one
but you have got to put yourself to one side
and sometimes,
people often find it hard to survive
and they need you
