Authentic – Written Wednesday 28th April 2021 (Aged 46)

just be authentic
striped jersey
jaunty act
finds me feeling sick
and my tolerance starts to sag
your new age jazz
baroque nonsense
sounds fake
your pretence
causes deep offence
just be authentic
you are not film noir
or breaking
art house rules
you are just ordinary people
there is no scandinavian cool
man cave
wingback chair pretence
this, library corner
feels low rent
just be authentic
and she is not
the over feminised
poetic goddess
with a bow in her hair
that she thinks she is
just be authentic
you know, it is okay to be ordinary
and it is okay to be yourself
why try to so hard
why try to be everybody else
