English Rose – Written Friday 6th August 2010 (Aged 35)

English Rose

she told me
of the expensive flat
she had with her partner
it overlooked the broadway
with clear sea views
i see the class system
is hardly news
her voice was pitched
and she had that
home counties prettiness
like an english rose
equally well picked out
were the clothes
she smiled at me
and i thought if i –
gate crashed that world
would the party –
still carry on
with her well placed flat
and dining out in lass
but this is all just surface
does she know, it goes so fast
