We Are Here – Written Monday 3rd July 2000 (Aged 25)

We Are Here

nothing changes in your voice
you talk about life
but nothing has changed here
getting ready for a night out
your friends are almost here
nothing changes in your day
a meal with your parents
and not much more to say
after all, we are friends
we are just friends going for a meal
and although we do not join hands
the madness is real
nothing changes in your clothes
another new skirt
it helps the night come and go
and it is good when you flirt
you ask about the people here
they are still the same
it is just that you are not near
we have not changed in a while
nothing changes in your face
yet you still wear that same old smile
