It Made all the Sadness Go Away – Written Wednesday 21st April 1999 (Aged 24)

It Made all the Sadness Go Away

a woman smiled at me today
and it was easy
for a few seconds all the bad things went away
what could i see?
such a warm glance
it was caught, just by chance
and it was not wasted on me

a beautiful woman smiled at me
what was she thinking
she moved so quietly
amongst my own clumsy movements
as ever,
i was rendered almost useless
but i managed to smile back

it was easy
for a few seconds all the bad things went away
like the dark clouds
before the beginning of my day
like the pain of failed relationships
and the longing for special friends
that for too long, have been sorely missed

a woman smiled at me today
it was easy
and for a brief moment all the sadness went away
