As If I Really Care – Written Tuesday 15th March 1994 (Aged 19)

As If I Really Care

As if I really care
As if it really matters –
If you are there
When the dreams lie in tatters
You look old in your stare
Just what is going on –
Between us two
Is what we have already gone
And as if I really care
You are a drug
Especially when you are not there
I have had enough
And I do not really care
You can be who you want to be
Because at the end of the day
No matter what I say,
You are not that important to me
And that is how I feel today
It’s that way, it’s the way I am
And I wish things could seem fair
Don’t you understand
As if I really care
