Slow is The Kill
I thought the kill
would be swift—
but you know
how I feel,
so why drag out
the kill?
I knew this
would mess me up,
but you are
like a drug.
I need to be
out of my cage;
I just need
to be free.
I know
if you were not there
that I would
get over it.
I would be doing
“cold turkey,”
and I know
I would be winning.
You have been
more than a friend,
but now
it is the beginning—
the beginning
of the end.
And slow
is the kill,
as you keep on
baiting me
by saying things
that you are not
going to do.
You know
how I feel.
Just leave me—
I like you
too much.
And slow
is the kill.
