They Have Never Told You the Truth – Written May 2009 (Aged 34)

They Have Never Told You the Truth

you never answers questions
you never have
just like they never told you
what really happened to dad
i am fortunate –
to have listened
to both sides of the story

the past seems numb
for that, i am sorry
six of one –
half a dozen of the other
a father playing games
equalled a mother
both playing for keeps
but as the years roll on by
a child cannot sleep
and a child remains anxious
unable to feel confident
and unable to feel loved

you never answer questions
there are dreams in your walls
and gaps in your psyche
leapt into by fools
you never answer questions
you never have
