Blame
why do you blame yourself
that abuse was not your fault
why hang it onto your name
you should not feel guilty
for you are not to blame
it is now known that victims –
take on the blame of the perpetrator
i guess that is why you blame yourself
and made to feel somehow –
longing to be somebody
you should have got a helping hand
a hug and the reassurance –
to help you understand
i remember you telling me –
how you were made to feel guilty
and ashamed
victims and perpetrators
you were never to blame
you did not have to take on –
the guilt and shame
