Almost a Month
almost a month
what a period of time
her passport on the table
but no windchimes
almost a month
and mothers day looms
as someone yesterday –
kindly reminded me
suddenly,
that previously –
hastily bought card –
opens with an emptiness
that hits so very hard
but,
we will not fall apart
nor we will sag and deplete alone
my grief,
battles with my crumple zone
almost a month
and in that time
we have all changed
people in our lives
our relationships rearranged
our sorrow,
well, that is barely contained
but there is a tomorrow
and some hope and joy remain
