The Moat – Written Monday 13th December 2010 (Aged 35)

The Moat

it was unpleasant –
but then i have spent a lifetime –
seeing the best in people
but often as an accompaniment –
to a childhood –
that was dogged –
by a lack of approval
rarely,
do i find someone –
who makes me feel so bad
who leaves me wanting to run
and who leaves me feeling so sad
it was uncomfortable
and at one stage –
i wanted to pay, to get up
and just run away
and yet it was you,
telling me not make assumptions
yet, you,
you had made so many yourself
how could someone bond –
fall in love, become close
forget the castle –
i was drowned in the moat
