Reflections in Dirty Puddles – Written Monday 7th July 1997 (Aged 22)

Reflections in Dirty Puddles

too many girls –
not enough women in my world
it just seems to be me
i cannot help but be selfish
i cannot help believing
and if i cut my hands scratching
then who will help me as i bleed?
so i bleed out the words inside
feelings that are emotional
but had to find
i can relate to the page
when it is a special written word
but stepping out into reality
and then things look absurd
this is not about inner pain
and all that rubbish
fashion accessories for some
it is about relating
sky castles and escaping
reflections in dirty puddles
when you are alone
and life seems to be in such a muddle
too many girls –
not enough women in my world
i would love to understand
because too often, i am just a boy
and not enough times, a man
