Let Me Shake The Hand – Written Sunday 5th January 2003 (Aged 27)

Let Me Shake The Hand

let me shake the hand of the future
the one,
i am going to meet
let me take it out
let me achieve some kind of feat

let me shake the hand of our joint future
i aim to look after you
to protect you
to make sure happiness –
is no more than a short distance away
because i am trying every day

let me shake the hand of the future
in a world, dominated by sheep
chewing on the grass
just makes me bleat

let me shake the hand of the future
we are going to meet
and it is just a train stop away
let me shake the hand of the future
the one we are both going to meet

James Garratt – Sunday 5th January 2003
