The Heaviest Tanks – Written December 2008 (Aged 33)

The Heaviest Tanks

some people turn on the lamp
and some people,
i really do owe –
a great deal of thanks
some people entered my battlefield
and drove in the heaviest tanks
some people pen my words
and paint me abstract paintings
they dally freely with the absurd
some people,
i do really regret,
they entered my rooms and left
leaving in their wake –
an unholy mess
they did nothing for my demons
and trampled upon my respect
they showed me steel like tears
that fell, somewhat carelessly
some people turn on the lamp
and some people,
i really do owe –
a great deal of thanks
some people,
stole from my deepest richest banks
but some have saved my being
and it is those i truly thank
