Best For Me

i know i love you like no other
and no one –
has made me feel so alive
so loved, so special and so wanted
but your hold on my emotions
is quite obviously self destructive
and if i am ever to be free
if i am ever to protect myself
then i can only do what is best for me
all i can do is walk away
even after all these years –
and all their moments
i know that there is no other choice
yet, i have never loved
and i have never wanted someone –
as much as i want you
but i am left with the realisation
that the one person –
who i would happily give my all to
is the very same person –
who will easily destroy me
