Pockets Full of Apples – Written Saturday 18th June 2011 (Aged 36)

Pockets Full of Apples

they fill their pockets –
full of apples
look at the barrow
in the market square
they are always there
same time, same day
each and every week
they do the same
and they never change
their shirts remain stuffed
their ideas rarely plucked
lack of ambition
sucked like a boiled sweet
they rummage around –
their lives
looking for insulation
but the walls are thin
this burning lack of ambition
where do you begin
