Past People- Written Monday 1st February 2016 (Aged 40)

Past People

i think about you and i think about them
and i think about,
all the past people
some of whom were once friends
and it it is true,
that no one can change the painting
the one that time has created
and the film, which experience directs
well, that scene has been set
and it is true,
there is no rewriting of the script
but i have to ask,
what became of us,
no,
not that carefully constructed outside view
the one people create for the world to see
but all that, ‘inside stuff’,
the bits and pieces that make us who we are
i think about you,
and it feels like all your destinations are sad
but they fit because when i do think back
i am not that surprised
i would like you to know i still care for you
and i do value,
the friendship, that long ago we once had
