I Steal Its Rope – Written Friday 6th May 2022 (Aged 47)

I Steal Its Rope

it is the bleak end of the week
the moment where tired eyes –
dare not speak
where strong arm tactics
feel quite weak because –
it is that bleak end of the week
when the popular hope
look quite weak
when voters rights
no longer know how to speak
when those monday dreams
suddenly look quite antique
it is the bleak end of the week
where walking –
demands a new set of feet
where contentment –
starts to feel less complete
it is the bleak end of the week
where friday karaoke
cannot not sing along or even speak
when the drum of thursday
no longer has a beat
when the happy hum of wednesday
is now wandering the streets
it is the bleak end of the week
i had monday hope,
and a tuesday to meet
now i have saturday smoke
and a sunday destined to elope
it is the bleak end of the week
lift me up,
because how will i ever cope?
it is the bleak end of the week
so i wrestle it to the ground and steal its rope
