Cheap Fireworks In The Rain
all in all these fathers
that never father
and who never take –
their children much further
never really gave stability
only some hand built insanity
only some slipshod reality
what good is it when their children –
are forced to wear their boots
the ones of emotional instability
and what good is it when their children –
are forced to wear their clothes –
of guilt and shame
just as they stand in the garden
watching cheap fireworks in the rain
these fathers,
like a patchwork quilt of trauma
leaving their families not much warmer
gruff, and yet, apparently tough
these fathers do not amount to much
leaving adults,
longing for the parental love
