Unexpected
i never planned for the unexpected
the least anticipated,
the ill situated,
i never planned for the unexpected
or what i thought would turn up
unexpected bouts of luck
i try to guess the cards
i try to plan,
but i get dealt a surprising hand
i never planned for the unexpected
that’s my common mistake
but then, how do we plan
for what we believe will never happen
for the things we dare not believe in
i never planned for the unexpected
