The Surroundings – Written Sunday 23rd February 2003 (Aged 28)

The Surroundings

sometimes you outgrow the surroundings
that once used to fit you
all because you have changed and grown
its such a shock
because it’s something you didn’t realise
or could have even known,
and the king that was your surroundings
has been overthrown,
run out of your life
sometimes you out grow things
that once made you strong
you have grown,
because change has come along
the streets no longer feel paved with gold
the memories beauty starts to fade
and some of the memories are just looking old
sometimes you outgrow the surroundings
that once used to fit you
