Age Is A Heady Drug
age is a heady drug
i pushed a pram which was full
but i could never get enough
i trawled the ocean floor
i saw the people
who had gone before
we stand in living rooms
and sit round tables
and then before –
the drink makes us feel less able
we turn our collective pain
into some kind of fable
check out my wardrobe
and look in my chest of drawers
each time i cross over
i find a more a fascinating flaw
and if i wait at the crossing
i find i miss them even more
