You Bought Me Lilies – Written Monday 17th May 2010 (Aged 35)

You Bought Me Lilies

you bought me lilies
they floated on my pond
you bought me misery
and then,
the lilies were gone
you walked along the seawall
balancing like a bird
you gate crashed –
the banks of my museum
you were unabashed
you bought me lilies
the kind of change i did not have
we swapped the meal
for something less ad
you walked along the seawall
you found the beach
and made sandcastles so small
you bought me lilies
they floated on my pond
and my castle came to nothing
and now, the moat is gone
