A Boy Trying To Stay Afloat
i do love you
i love you because –
you get to the nub of me
my silliness,
you are what i need
you give me space –
to make a hash of it
and you reward me with a smile
i do love you
even if life these days –
is just a boat,
an extreme party trick
and a boy trying to stay afloat
the life of solid plans,
has given way to a journey –
of exciting and unknown lands
and letting go of convention –
is truly, truly –
my greatest invention
i do love you
because you give me –
that something i thought was lost
let’s both row to an island
miss out the nose and the interference
and love each other in silence
