Cheer For Others
it is easier to cheer for others
to champion their cause
if only requires the kind of emotional effort –
easily found
you can champion groups
different causes,
it is easier from a distance
close up and personal
may require more of your existence
but it is those closest who need us
they need us to champion their cause
unpick or unlock locks and push open doors
ultimately compassion –
has to find a way home
it is those closest to us –
who suffer from being alone
being a spokesperson –
for the minorities that you have picked
yet they never really need your voice –
or your push
i know there are no selfless gestures –
or even a sacred touch
but i know it is easier to cheer for others
or champion an unknown cause
but really, it is those that need our love
who need to know that we love them more
